Wooster City School District's General's Closet Ready Thanks to Large Donation from Grace Church

The Wooster City School District would like to thank Grace Church for its generous donation to the General’s Closet, a districtwide initiative to provide personal hygiene products to students in need. The donation was so large that the district had to find additional space to store the items.

“General’s Closet began as just one shelf of products that students and families in need had access to, but thanks to the kind people of Grace Church, we had to find more storage space,” said Jill Ackerman, administrative assistant for the Wooster City School District.

The large donation was spearheaded by Carlin Tiano, a Wooster graduate and the Next Steps Coordinator for Grace Church. He reached out to Ackerman about the project and organized a “Bumper Crop” collection at Grace Church, where people took home a bag and then returned it the following week filled with products to donate. The church expected to donate one busload of products, but instead, they collected enough for two full busloads.

“We cannot thank Carlin enough for choosing to give back to Wooster in such a fantastic way,” said Superintendent Dr. Michael Tefs. “We are so very grateful to Carlin and the amazingly generous congregation of Grace Church. They have made a significant difference for our students and their families as they now have access to an array of basic hygiene products.”
