The Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award

The Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award

In 2000, the Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation began presenting the Wooster City Schools’ Outstanding Teacher Award. Ralph and Grace Jones founded the Wooster Glass Company, where Ralph worked until his death in 2010 at the age of 94. Ralph was delighted to help recognize great educators, too many of whom don’t get the notice they deserve. Ralph felt very strongly about the impact that teachers have on our youth and our society. This award is intended to recognize teachers whose performance inside and outside the classroom is recognized in the greater Wooster community as above and beyond the ordinary. This includes their involvement in creative programs, contributions outside the classroom, service to the larger community, and demonstrated respect by students, peers and the community. The award consists of an unrestricted $5,000 cash stipend which is funded by the Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation.
