The Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation Outstanding Teacher and Staff Member Award

The Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation Outstanding Teacher and Staff Member Award

In 2000, the Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Foundation began presenting the Wooster City Schools’ Outstanding Teacher Award. Ralph and Grace Jones founded the Wooster Glass Company, where Ralph worked until his death in 2010 at the age of 94. Ralph was delighted to help recognize great educators, too many of whom don’t get the notice they deserve. Ralph felt very strongly about the impact that teachers have on our youth and our society.

Beginning in 2017, the Foundation began recognizing a support staff member. Individuals and groups in Wooster are encouraged to nominate teachers and staff for this award. A selection committee consisting of members of the community will select the recipient from the nominations. The successful candidates must be a current teacher or staff member in the Wooster City Schools who exemplify excellence in teaching and service to the district, its students, and greater community.

These awards will be presented annually at the Wooster City School District's convocation.  A $7,500 unrestricted grant will accompany each award.
