Michael is the 22^nd Wooster City Schools superintendent.

Michael was born in Wooster Community Hospital and grew up in Lodi, Ohio and graduated from the Cloverleaf Local School District. He earned a  Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Arts in Eduction degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and recently earned his doctorate (Ed.D.) in education.

As a teacher, Dr. Tefs specialized in Reading and Science instruction.  He is a firm believer in constructing a learning environment that is rigorous and relevant to everyday living.

Administratively, he has served as an assistant principal and principal of a middle school and high school and a a Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Curricular leadership is his passion. Dr. Tefs takes great pride in aligning curriculum vertically, horizontally and ensuring that curricular implementation demands application of skills learned.  He has spent considerable time researching assessment and reporting of student learning, analysis of student achievement data and early childhood education.

Dr. Tefs lives in Wooster with his wife, Gretchen, daughters Julia and Anna and their beloved black lab, Callaway.
