Class of 2018 News

Complete online or obtain a hard copy of the senior questionnaire. This gives us information for the commencement program, fall plans, & confirms where you are going to college. Please note that only the scholarship names will be published in the program, no money amounts.  Please complete no later than May 4.

Tentative posting of Honors will be posted on counselor’s door for 1 week: April 23 -April 27.  Please check for accuracy and note that final determination is made after grades are calculated in late May.

 

 

Senior Exams are May 16 & 17

 

May 18 is a MANDATORY school day, in which you will arrive for breakfast, complete community service at various locations, lunch, & attend a brief meeting regarding graduation information.  Your cap & gown, photo order form, & tickets will be given at this meeting, In the past, you have been able to opt out of the morning if you regularly volunteer; however, this is not an option. All members of the class will be required to attend for the last day, minus our WCSCC students.  We will meet with them on May 21 at the school.

 

Scholarship/Academics Awards will be May 31 at 7:00pm.  All members of the class are encouraged to attend. Scholarships, honor cords, department, & presidential awards will be given.  Invite your families.  WCSCC are encouraged to attend as well.  Students should line up in the commons at 6:30pm in graduation gown only. 

 

 

Graduation is Sunday, June 3 at 2:00pm. Tickets are only needed due to inclement weather.  Tickets were evenly distributed at the meeting on May 18, or May 21 for WCSCC. Each student will receive 6 tickets. Should students require more tickets, they should contact peers.   

 

GRADUATION PRACTICE is at 12:15pm in the main gym.  All students need to be there to practice prior to graduation., if planning to walk.   Chairs will be set up. All should arrive in cap & gown & honor cords.  Please be prompt; we don’t want to delay graduation.  

 

 

Underclassman Final Exams

Final Exams for all other students will be May 24 & 25.

 

Schedule Changes for 2018-2019 

2018-2019 schedules will be passed out to in mid-May.  Please review both first and second semester classes. Also note that study halls & lunches have not been added.  

Students will have until   May 25 for a “change of mind”.  

After June 1, ONLY the following changes will be allowed during the first eight (8) days of school and the first three (3) days of the second semester:

a.    Upgrading schedule-adding a class in place of a study hall. 

b.   Dropping a class because no study hall was scheduled

c.    Level change-teacher recommendation only.  Example:  Honors Geometry to Geometry or Spanish I to Spanish II.

 

 

College Credit Plus

Those students participating in College Credit Plus Program for 2018-2019 school year should have completed and returned paperwork to their guidance counselors.  This would include:  letter of intent to participate & the University of Akron signature page. This is for students that will be taking a course at the high school, receiving high school and college credit.  

Students must apply to the University of Akron; choosing the CCP option, by April15, for fall admissions. The application deadline for Spring admission is October 15.  

On May 22, all students who are enrolled in Fall CCP courses will travel to Wayne College to complete registration and orientation.On December 14, students who are enrolled in Spring CCP courses will travel to Wayne College to complete orientation and registration.  All students must attend an orientation, either with school or on their own.  A photo ID card is required to obtain your “Zip” card.  If you have attended an orientation in the past, you do not need to go again, only new students to the program.  If you have not taken an ACT or received the necessary score for CCP, please register at act.org for a June or July test date.

Open Enrollment for 2018-2019

Wooster City School District's Open Enrollment process began May 1.  Applications will be accepted from a child's parent or guardian beginning May 1 through June 30at the Wooster City School District Board of Education, 144 North Market Street.  Open enrollment applications are available on the WCS website, www.woostercityschools.org, Click online forms and it can be found at the bottom of the page or by calling Central Office at (330) 988-1111, ext. 1241.

All open enrollment applications will be acted upon and parents notified by July 15.  A new application foropen enrollment is required each year. Parents are required to transport all open enrolled students. Thank you for your interest in the Wooster City Schools. We look forward to greeting you in August.

 

Summer School/Credit Recovery

Health & Financial Literacy will once again by offered as an online course during the summer, with teacher office hours for help. Please note that both of these classes are required for graduation.  

Each class will cost:  $75.00

Information meeting: May 23 at 7:45am  & 2:55am in LGIR  (15 minute meeting)

All payments are to be made in the main office. Credit Recovery will also be available. Please listen to announcements or watch webpage for more information.

 

 

FREE Sport’s Physicals:
