L. Sue Herman is a lifelong resident of Wooster and attended Wooster City Schools for most of her school years. A graduate of Waynedale High School, Sue married David Herman in 1969 and they have two children, both graduates of the Wooster City School District: Jennifer Dilyard (married to Matt) and Seth Herman (married to Jaime). They are also the proud grandparents of six children, two of whom currently attend Wooster City Schools.

After seventeen years spent at home raising her children, Sue enrolled at the University of Akron, Wayne College to pursue a life-long dream of becoming a teacher. She graduated in May of 1994 magna cum laude with a Communications Comprehensive degree and was hired that summer by the Wooster City School District. She began her career as a reading teacher at Boys' Village (now
The Village Network) and then moved to Wooster High School in 1995 to become a member of the WHS English department where she proudly taught until 2015 when she retired to run for the WCS Board of Education.

In addition to belonging to numerous professional organizations, Sue also has been active in the schools and in the community over the years. She is currently an active member of AAUW and is involved in her church. She enjoys reading--voraciously--as well as gardening, jewelry-making, and her new-found hobby of quilting.

Sue looks forward to serving the students, employees, and residents of the Wooster City School district and is excited to begin this new aspect of her dearly-loved career. She encourages input from residents of the district as she begins her leadership role.
