Wooster City School District to Hold Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2019

The Wooster City School District will hold two kindergarten registration days for children who will turn five by September 30:

  • Tuesday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 10 from noon to 7 p.m.

Both registration days will be held at the Board of Education office, 144 N. Market St. Appointments are required. Appointments last approximately 15 minutes. To make an appointment, parents or guardians, please call 330.988.1111 ext. 1241.

Parents or guardians must bring to the appointment:

  • a completed and signed registration packet,
  • the child’s original birth certificate,
  • social security number,
  • immunization record,
  • proof of residence in the Wooster City School District and, if applicable
  • proof of custody or guardianship

Kindergarten registration packets can be found on the district’s website, www.woostercityschools.org, are available at each elementary school or are available at the Board of Education office.

The state of Ohio requires that all children entering kindergarten have the following immunizations:

  • DTap (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus): Four or more doses. Last dose after age 4
  • Polio: Three or more doses. Last dose after age 4
  • Hepatitis B: Three or more doses. Last dose after 24 weeks
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella): Two doses
  • Varicella (chickenpox): Two doses

These immunizations must be given before school starts. Students do not need to have these immunizations before their registration appointment.

“If your child will be turning five by September 30, we highly recommend that parents schedule an appointment for one of these dates,” said Karen Arbogast, Director of Elementary Education. “We also want to encourage parents to have their registration forms filled out and all other required information with them at the time of their registration appointment.”
