JustWrite Creative Writing Students Qualify for State Competition

On Saturday, December 11th the JustWrite Creative Writing Team competed at their regional tournament at Cloverleaf High School.

9th-12th grade students compete in three rounds of writing in which they receive a prompt with a specific genre and are then given forty-five minutes to write a story. They also have a poetry prompt that is completed prior to competition and submitted that day.

The Division 1 (9th and 10th) grade team took 3rd place with their combined score out of fifteen schools. Students receiving individual awards were: Vilma Biro (10th) - excellence in poetry, Harrison Alexander (10th) - 14th place individually, and Keiryn Keener (10th) - 8th place individually. All three students have automatically qualified for the state competition held in May.

Coach Chelsey Porter notes that she is “so proud of these writers who worked extremely hard and represented Wooster very well. They have incredible stories to tell and it has been a privilege to be their coach.”
