Amier & Proano Win National Junior Honor Society Awards

Xander Amier and Danny Proano, eighth-grade students from Wooster’s Edgewood Middle School, were recently selected as recipients of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Outstanding Achievement Award. Only 500 students from around the country were selected to receive this prestigious award.

As NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award recipients, Xander and Danny both received a $500 scholarship that will be placed in a college savings account program that is managed by Oppenheimer Funds (OFI Private Investments) as part of the 529 college savings plan.

“Congratulations to these bright young men on such an incredible and deserved honor!” said Bridget Frantz, National Junior Honor Society advisor and seventh grade mathematics teacher.  “We are so proud of Xander and Danny. They have proven to be proficient students who value education and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. I wish them good luck in high school next fall as they continue their quest to higher education!”

The NJHS offers the Outstanding Achievement Award to help middle school students get a head start on their college-preparatory plan. To be eligible, students had to be in good standing in their NJHS chapter and had to go through an extensive application process.
