Parent Education - Social Media Safety - During the 2018-2019 school year Director of Technology Rebecca Furlong is partnering with the All City PTO to begin planning for some school and community events centered on the topic of social media safety education. This plan is three-tiered: school assemblies for middle and high school students, an evening event for parents and community and access to an online education platform called Parent University. The event is scheduled for Monday, March 4th at 6:00 PM in the Wooster High School Performing Arts Center
Reading Under the Lights - The evening is built to target Wooster Youth in grades K-6 to encourage student participation in summer reading. So often reading reduces in the summer months and in turn causes what is referred to as the "Summer Slide." Reading Under the Lights is a free family-friendly, summer kick-off reading event, which includes free books, food, library card access and sign up, and reading with celebrities. Please join us for the next Reading Under the Lights scheduled for May 10, 2019 at Maurer Field.
Window Wonderland - Horse drawn carriage rides, beautifully decorated storefront windows, Santa descending from the rooftop, are just a few of the magical attractions at Downtown Wooster stores and restaurants that make Window Wonderland a treasured event. As Downtown Wooster transforms into a winter wonderland, join us at The Board of Education Office and write your holiday cards to teachers, friends, relatives, nursing home residents - even Santa! This free family event will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM.
Safety and Security Summit - The Wooster City School District Board of Education and members of the District Safety and Security Committee will host a panel discussion on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the WHS Performing Arts Center (PAC). Topics covered include a review of last year's Safety and Security Summit, review of completed and in-progress safety upgrades, next steps and audience Q&A.
